任務相互依賴程度提高不會導致效果的提高（an increasing level of task interdependence did not enhance effectiveness by itself），相反，正向的結果相互依賴性降低或負向結果相互依賴提高會導致任務相互依賴與小組效果下降（increased task interdependence accompanied by decreasing levels of positive or increasing levels of negative outcome interdependence appeared to be related to reduced effectiveness）
研究的緣由
工作組成員的相互依賴是組織工作的中心工作。（INTERACTION AMONG WORK-GROUP MENBERS is central to organizational work .）組織成員應該相互提供信息建議和幫助使彼此的工作順利進展(Interdependent work-group members are expected to facilitate others’ task performances by providing each other with information,advice,help . )，但事實上去是相互阻礙工作的進行。
